‘Tea’ has become my recent path, at least the most exciting one at this point! “-JMM
I have been named Jessica and I am just a Tea Lover flowing back ‘home’!
A tea lover that in this lifetime was born in the beautiful Caribbean archipelago of Puerto Rico, where the best coffee of the World is produced…and I assure you this is true! Why I’m so sure? Because I grew up in a family of coffee lovers and once also growers at Adjuntas, one of the most important coffee producing municipalities of PR. Indeed, I was raised in a beautiful small family farm with the smell of freshly roasted coffee always in the air.
Then, what brought me into Tea? Certainly, wasn’t a tea culture as it is known in most parts of the World, but we do have a rich tisane heritage from which I was also raised through. As a child, I had my own ‘curandera’, an old wise medicine woman who used to give me herbal teas, natural ‘ponches’, and massages. However, it was my spiritual quest that introduced me to the ancient traditional tea culture. The Way of Tea and its Healing effects captivated my soul! Later, I also got really amazed by its history, lovely tales, deep wisdom, and the fact that all teas (greens, blacks, red, white, yellow, etc…) derive from the same plant, Camellia, mostly from the varietals sinensis and assamica. I find truly remarkable how this plant can develop such a diverse spectrum of aromas and flavors, depending on the terroir where it is cultivated and how it is processed, especially those from the most rustic traditional ways.
I feel that maybe the richness of my mixed heritage make my heart vulnerable to fall in Love with the richness of all cultures of this amazing World. Thus, I’m now eagerly aspiring to do so through the Wisdom of Tea!…Learn and share with all those other tea lovers around the world that have been unveiling and enjoying this ancient beautiful culture for so many years ahead me, and of course, with all those as raw as me!
So, lets flow together!!!
Note: I intend this space to be bilingual. Most of my posts will be in ‘my’ English, but I will also be adding some videos in Spanish as it is my native and first language!
